Things to do in Spain in winter
Winter tasting: Jamón Ibérico
The Valle de los Pedroches is a Natural Park located in the Northern part of Córdoba province, Andalucia. Home to the Iberian pig breed, the farmers in Los Pedroches Valley produce our most international delicatessen: the Iberico ham.
We invite you to enjoy a nice walk in the Dehesa (a natural forest of holm oak trees) or visit a local farm, the best place to learn about the curing and aging process of the Iberico. This winter experience will end with delicious tasting. Yummy!!
Tamborrada in San Sebastian
The Tamborrada is San Sebastian’s most important festival and the entire city gathers together regardless of the cold or rain. More than 15,000 Donostiarras (the people of San Sebastian as they are called in Basque) that belong to over 100 bands, actively take part in the drumming.
Its origins date back at the time of the Independence war around 1813. During this time of occupation, it was typical for the women to fetch water at one of the city’s two fountains. Winter sports: ice-skating in Granada
Granada and its famous Sierra Nevada mountains is not all about skiing in winter. We invite you to enjoy a very family friendly activity down town: ice-skating at the Pabellon Mulhacen. Here you can practice but also feel like a professional athlete. Some of the most popular ice-skating venues take place here, so you just need to select the day and we will book the tickets for you!
Hiking the Madrid countryside
Winter is indeed the perfect time to enjoy a nice hike in the countryside. Far away from the hustle and bustle of the city and just an hour drive from Madrid, we find the amazing landscape of the Guadarrama Natural Park. On the outside of the picturesque mountain village of Rascafría, you can reach the spectacular waterfall of Cascada del Purgatorio. Discover Vielha in the Pyrenees: a fairytale town
Vielha, the capital of Vale d’Aran is a small Pyrenean town with approximately 4,000 inhabitants and located at 974 meters above sea level. It is surrounded by peaks reaching over 2,000 metres and built along the Garona river. Its origins take us back to the Roman period, when it was called Vétula, and when, according to legend, it was home to the giant Mandronius, who fought against the Roman invaders. The perfect winter spot for a weekend escape!
