Fuente Piedra Lake

Located in the northwest of the province of Malaga, Fuente Piedra Lake lies between olive groves and cereal crops. It is 6 km km long, covering an area of almost 1,400 hectares. This makes it the largest wetland area in inland Andalusia, and one of the biggest in Spain.
The lake has shallow, salt water and is internationally recognised as home to the largest colony of famingos on the Iberian Peninsula and the second largest in Europe. Up to 20,000 mating pairs of famingos have been registered here. Early mornings in spring are the best time to see them.
